The Simmons Hall Housemaster and
Associate Housemaster Web Site
Welcome to
the Housemaster Homepage!
Welcome to everyone who has chosen to join the Simmons Hall adventure. We are proud and excited to be your Housemasters and hope that we get to know each of the Simmons Hall residents personally as the year progresses.
Who are we? The Housemaster team consists
of John Essigmann (Professor of
Chemistry and Biological Engineering), Dr.
Ellen Essigmann, and
Steven Hall (Professor of
Aeronautics and Astronautics).
Our roles:
- Establish and maintain a social program that allows students to get to know the Housemaster and GRT staff better
- Provide a resource to students and the administration to facilitate communication and coordination
- Provide academic and personal guidance to students to
help them get the most out of their learning and living experiences at MIT
- Supervise day to day operations of the GRT/Housemaster team
- Recruit into and manage the Residential Scholars
Program (RS are typically faculty from other institutions who live and conduct
cultural and educational programming in Simmons while they are on sabbatical
leave at MIT)
- Any suggestions should be forwarded to Ellen
Essigmann (emessig@mit.edu) and John
Essigmann (jessig@mit.edu)
