Simmons Hall Tours
Simmons Hall is an MIT Undergraduate Residence Hall. It is home to 340 MIT undergraduates, 10 MIT graduate students, 2 MIT professors and their families, and 5 Resident Scholars who are visiting MIT for the academic year. Simmons has attracted many admirers since its opening in August, 2002. Visit MIT's evolving campus website to find out more about Simmons Hall — http://web.mit.edu/evolving/. The residents of Simmons Hall invite you to appreciate the exterior façade of this innovative building, but ask that you please respect our privacy. The interior of Simmons Hall is open exclusively to its residents, their escorted guests, and individuals with pre-approved arrangements. Simmons Hall ToursIn recognition of the architectural significance of Simmons Hall, we offer tours of the non-residential areas of the building. Tours must be scheduled in advance. Please send your request to: <Address Obscured: Please view with a JavaScript enabled browser>. The Simmons Hall Tour Coordinator will respond as soon as possible. Because academics are our first priority, we ask for your patience in waiting for the response to your request. Simmons cannot guarantee fulfillment of requests made on short notice, for very large groups of visitors, or for tours scheduled during class hours, exam periods, MIT breaks or vacations. The maximum tour group size is 20. Given enough notice, Simmons may be able to arrange for additional guides to accommodate larger groups. There is a small fee charged for tours. This is sometimes waived, as is the case for members of the MIT community, MIT alums and special guests of MIT. For business-related tours, we ask for a donation. A tour of Simmons Hall usually takes 45 to 75 minutes, depending upon the interests of the tour group. There are restrictions on picture taking: photographing of residents and private areas is not allowed. Please note: any persons who do not have pre-approved business in this residence hall will be asked to leave the premises immediately; failure to do so will be considered trespassing and dealt with accordingly. |
